We install, repair and service PB Heat boilers, from the stainless PUREFIRE to the cast iron Series 63 steam boiler, and we stock the common parts. Estimates on replacements are free, and boiler financing is available.

PB Heat is the manufacturer and Peerless is the product name. When Noritz announced the deal, the trade press described PB Heat, of Bally, Pennsylvania, as a provider of Peerless high-efficiency, cast iron and stainless steel boilers and Peerless Partner indirect-fired water heaters.

Noritz Corporation of Japan closed the purchase on January 7, 2019. The announcement said no changes were planned for PB Heat and that Peerless would still be sold independently of Noritz-branded products. The oil models (WBV, EC and WV-DV) live on our Peerless oil boiler repair page, so here we focus on gas.

PB Heat Boilers for Long Island Homes

Plenty of older houses in Nassau, Queens and the North Shore still run steam. The Series 63 comes in seven sizes and has a low profile for short cellars. The 63-04 sizes can even drop to a 6-inch vent using a reducer PB Heat packs in the draft hood carton.

No usable chimney? The PSCII keeps cast iron in the basement but pulls air from outside and vents out the wall, and the PUREFIRE and PBC vent the same sealed way. On chimney models like the MI-e, the Hydrostat IC control gives two circulator outputs, so one can run an indirect water heater on priority.

Switching off oil? We handle oil to gas conversion on Long Island and size the new PB Heat boiler to your radiators, not to the old boiler's tag.

Warranty

PB Heat Boiler Warranty

Coverage depends on the heat exchanger. On a PUREFIRE, PB Heat covers the heat exchanger for defects through year 7. From years 8 to 12 you pay a share of list price: 25% in years 8 and 9, 50% in years 10 and 11, and 75% in year 12. The PBC combi also lists a 12-year limited heat exchanger warranty.

Registration is what turns on the extras. A registered PUREFIRE gets five years of parts coverage and an insured labor policy from day 91 through the first year, and PB Heat's lifetime (hot water) and 10-year (steam) cast iron section warranties don't apply without full registration. We register it for you. PUREFIRE terms also call for a yearly inspection by a licensed contractor.

There's nothing to choose between here. PB Heat builds the boilers and Peerless is the brand on them, so a PB Heat PUREFIRE and a Peerless PUREFIRE are one product.

A fairer gas comparison is U.S. Boiler Company boilers. U.S. Boiler's ALTA lists 95% AFUE, a 12-year limited heat exchanger warranty and 5 years on parts, close to PB Heat's 12 years on PUREFIRE and PBC heat exchangers. One real difference: PB Heat's five-year parts term needs registration.

These are the PB Heat calls we see most, with the usual cause:

PUREFIRE stops and shows a message: a plugged condensate trap or a dirty burner; the LCD spells out the fault in plain English.
MI-e or MI-x clicks but won't light: a weak spark pilot or the automatic vent damper stuck shut.
Burner off with the low water light on: the Hydrostat IC cutoff sensed low water, often from a slow leak.
Series 63 water line jumps in the sight glass: oily or dirty boiler water that needs skimming.
PBC combi gives lukewarm showers: scale on the domestic water side or a clogged inlet screen.
PSCII locks out after a few seconds: an obstructed intake or exhaust at the wall terminal.

We stock the common parts: igniters, flame sensors, pilot assemblies, circulators, relief valves, low water cutoff probes and condensate neutralizer media. A PUREFIRE tune-up means cleaning the heat exchanger and condensate trap, testing combustion with an analyzer and checking both vent pipes. Set it up through our boiler service on Long Island.
