Navien Boilers for Long Island Homes

Fuel comes first. Navien's US boilers burn natural gas or propane, and the NCB-H and NFC-H combis include an orifice kit for converting between the two. If your home runs on oil, a Navien means converting to gas or propane, so we'll lay out that cost next to an oil boiler replacement before you decide.

For older homes with cast iron radiators, a high turndown helps. The NHB-150H can drop to a fraction of its full output on mild days instead of cycling on and off. A Navien combi works best when you have one or two bathrooms in use at once; 5.4 GPM at a 70°F rise is plenty for that, but not for three showers on a January morning.

These boilers hang on the wall and vent outdoors. The NCB700 vents with 2 inch pipe up to 80 feet or 3 inch up to 170 feet, which frees up the chimney. Pulling out an old boiler and water heater often opens up a good piece of basement.

Coverage differs by line. On the NCB-H and NCB700 combis, Navien gives you a decade on the heat exchanger, five years on parts and one on labor. The NHB-H heat exchanger is covered in full for 10 years and pro-rated through year 15. The NFB-H is covered in full for 12 years and pro-rated through year 15.

Navien's conditions are strict. A licensed plumber or contractor must install the boiler, the service provider must call Navien Technical Support before warranty work, and units bought online or from unauthorized sellers aren't covered. Hard water and lime damage are excluded. Because we're a Navien Service Specialist, we handle that call to Navien for you.

Bradford White's Brute FT is the closest match: a gas-fired, wall-hung condensing boiler and combi with a stainless fire tube heat exchanger. The Brute FT combi lists 95.0% AFUE and 10:1 turndown. The Navien NCB700 lists 96% AFUE, and the NHB-H reaches 15:1.

On hot water, the Brute FT 199 combi lists 4.8 GPM at a 77°F rise, while Navien's combis list 5.4 GPM at a 70°F rise; the test rises differ, so it's not a straight comparison. Navien Boiler Repair and Service

We stock common Navien boiler parts, including flame rods, igniters, sensors and condensate parts. A yearly tune-up should cover a combustion test, condensate cleaning and a check of the heat exchanger and pressure. Book boiler service before heating season.

No heat and an error code: ignition, flame sensing, low water pressure or a blocked condensate trap.
Heat works but no hot water from the combi: the 3-way valve, flow sensor or domestic heat exchanger needs checking.
Pressure gauge dropping: a leak in the system or a failing expansion tank or relief valve.
Boiler short-cycles: the settings don't match the home's heat loss, or a zone is too small.
Gurgling or water at the base: the condensate line is clogged or frozen.
Lukewarm radiators on cold days: the outdoor reset curve is set too low or air is trapped in the system.

1Does Navien Make an Oil Boiler for Long Island?

Not in the US lineup. Navien's US residential boilers all run on natural gas or propane, so oil homes would need to convert or choose another brand.

2Is a Navien Combi Boiler Big Enough for My House?

It depends on heat loss and hot water use. The combis heat from 60,000 to 199,900 BTU and give up to 5.4 GPM at a 70°F rise, so homes with several showers running at once may do better with a heat-only boiler and an indirect tank.

3What's the Difference Between NCB-H and NCB700?
