About Thermo Pride Oil Furnaces

We install, repair and service Thermo Pride oil furnaces across Long Island and stock the common parts they use. Domino has delivered heating oil since 1981, so we check the burner, oil line and tank along with the furnace.

Thermo Pride comes from Thermo Products, which was founded in 1946 and bought by Burnham Holdings in 1997. Its sister brand is Spirit, which Thermo Products calls its economy furnace line.

Thermo Pride says its furnaces are made in the United States. Each heat exchanger is 13-gauge coated steel formed into an octagon (Thermo Pride calls it Octatherm) to add surface area, and every cabinet is powder coated inside and out. Its catalog is mostly oil furnaces, with a few gas, mobile home and air handler models.

Thermo Pride Oil Furnaces for Long Island Homes

Many Long Island capes and ranches have basements under 7 feet, and new central air coils are taller than the old ones. The OH6 is 11 inches shorter than a typical highboy, which leaves room for a modern A/C coil without cutting into the ceiling.

Ranch homes with furnaces in a crawl space or attic can use the OD6 or the OT horizontal series. Every Thermo Pride oil model is set up with a nozzle change, so we size the firing rate to your house instead of copying the old nameplate.

The heat exchangers have cleanout ports placed for service, and Thermo Pride says the OH6 redesign improved their locations. That means a cleaner annual tune-up and less soot left behind.

Warranty

Thermo Pride Oil Furnace Warranty

Thermo Pride lists a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a 10-year parts warranty. Unlike many brands, the heat exchanger coverage transfers to the new owners automatically if you sell the house.

Labor and the full conditions are spelled out in the warranty document, so ask us for a copy for your model. The burner carries its own warranty from Beckett or Carlin.

On top of the manufacturer's coverage, Domino backs every installation with a 1-year labor warranty.

Thermo Pride vs Spirit Oil Furnaces

Thermo Pride and Spirit are both built by Thermo Products. Thermo Pride is the main line; Spirit is the economy line, with VH8 and VHF highboys, VL and VL8 lowboys, and a VC counterflow model.

If you see a Spirit nameplate, the burner work and service steps are close to a Thermo Pride's, though warranty terms are posted separately. For a new install, Thermo Pride is the line with the published 86% AFUE ratings and the transferable heat exchanger warranty.

Repair & Service

Thermo Pride Oil Furnace Repair and Service

For furnace service on Long Island, we carry nozzles, oil filters, cad cells, electrodes, ignitors and blower capacitors that fit Thermo Pride units. Here is what usually goes wrong:

  • Burner tries, then locks out: a clogged nozzle, a dirty oil filter or a weak cad cell reading.
  • Furnace short-cycles: a dirty filter or blocked return making the high limit trip.
  • ECM blower runs loud or fast: the motor is ramping up to push past a dirty filter or a closed register.
  • Oil smell at startup: delayed ignition or a weeping pump fitting.
  • Soot at the cleanout ports: the heat exchanger is overdue for a cleaning and combustion test.
Installation

Thermo Pride Oil Furnace Installation and Replacement

You can compare Thermo Pride with the other oil furnace brands we service. Price depends on the series and size, PSC or ECM blower, Beckett or Carlin burner, flue and chimney work, and any duct or A/C coil changes, so call for a quote.

  1. We check your heat load, ducts, chimney and ceiling height.
  2. We choose the series (OH6, OH8, OL, OD or OT) that fits the space and your A/C plans.
  3. We set the burner and nozzle for your home's heat loss.
  4. We remove the old furnace and install the Thermo Pride with a new oil filter and flue pipe.
  5. We test combustion and draft, then walk you through the filter and controls.
