Samsung's WindFree mini-splits cool a room through tiny micro holes in the front panel, so the air feels still once the room reaches temperature. We install, repair and service Samsung ductless systems for homes in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and Queens, with each head sized to the room it serves.

Samsung's HVAC division sells its ductless systems in the US through Samsung Lennox HVAC North America, a joint venture formed in 2024. Samsung owns 50.1% and Lennox 49.9%, and the venture sells both Samsung-branded units and "Lennox powered by Samsung" units.

WindFree is Samsung's main residential feature. In WindFree mode, air leaves the unit at under 0.15 meters per second. ASHRAE 55 defines that speed as "still air," so the room stays cool without a draft. Many models also carry a motion sensor that cuts energy use when nobody is in the room.

For a room that relies on the mini-split for winter heat, we suggest Max Heat. It has a built-in base pan heater that melts defrost water so ice can't build up and block the coil. Premium and Standard units stop heating at -5°F, which is fine when your oil or gas system still heats the rest of the house.

Samsung added two features that help homes with older boilers. Emergency Heat Operation can switch on a backup source such as baseboard or a hot water coil when certain error codes show up. Smart Heat Source Management lets you favor the backup heat in deep cold and the heat pump on milder days.

Samsung lists a 10-year warranty on its WindFree wall units, with product registration required and conditions that apply. Samsung asks for registration within 60 days of installation to secure the enhanced warranty, and activation can take 5 to 7 business days.

LG is Samsung's closest rival in wall-mounted ductless. LG's Art Cool Premier 15K system is rated 25 SEER2 and 11.2 HSPF2 and keeps heating to -13°F. LG's LGRED models give 100% rated heat at 5°F, and its Art Cool Deluxe with LGRED Core claims full heat at -13°F.

Samsung's edge is WindFree airflow and the motion sensor, which matter most in bedrooms and offices. LG's edge is its range of cold-weather models and multi-zone systems with LGRED that serve 2 to 6 zones.
