Many Long Island homes have hot water baseboard heat and no ductwork, which makes central air a big job. A Goodman mini split adds cooling without opening walls or ceilings. The heat pump side also gives you heat on mild days, so you can run the boiler less in spring and fall.

Goodman builds in a few features that help in a damp, cold climate. A built-in drain pan heater keeps the outdoor unit's drain from freezing, and a hot start function waits for the coil to warm before blowing air. Each system has a swing compressor and factory-installed Wi-Fi.

Goodman doesn't publish a low-temperature heating range for these units, so we treat them as cooling plus shoulder-season heat, not a full oil replacement. If you want to retire the oil burner and use PSEG Long Island's whole-house heat pump rebate, we'll quote a cold climate system from the NEEP list instead. Warranty

Goodman Mini Split Warranty

Goodman lists a 10-year parts limited warranty on its ductless systems. To get it, online registration has to be done within 60 days of installation.

For the compressor, Goodman offers one-time replacement coverage for the original homeowner in years 11 to 99, but only through a paid ASURE Extend Service Plan. Labor isn't part of the standard limited warranty. Coverage can also vary by state, so check the certificate for your unit.

On top of the manufacturer's coverage, Domino backs every installation with a 1-year labor warranty.

Goodman vs Daikin Mini Splits

Goodman and Daikin are owned by the same company, and Daikin has the much bigger ductless catalog. Daikin's 19 Series wall-mount heat pump, for example, lists a 12-year parts limited warranty with registration and a heating range of 5°F to 65°F.

Goodman keeps it simple with three systems and a 10-year parts warranty. If you want more indoor unit styles, sizes or published cold-weather specs, a Daikin model may fit better. If you want a straightforward single room or two-room setup, Goodman covers it.
