About GE Mini-Splits

Domino Fuel is listed in the GE Pro Directory, and we install, repair and service GE ductless systems from Queens out through Suffolk County. We match the series to the job: Caliber for a simple cooling room, Endure when the room needs real winter heat.

GE Appliances is a Haier company, and it builds GE-branded heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces and ductless systems under a trademark license from General Electric. GE's ductless line shares a warranty document with Haier ductless, its sister brand.

What sets GE apart is app control. The SmartHQ app runs the system from your phone, works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and gets over-the-air updates. With your OK, a technician can also look at the system remotely to help diagnose a fault.

GE Mini-Splits for Long Island Homes

A Long Island winter rarely drops below 5°F, which is where Endure still gives up to full rated heat. That makes Endure the safer pick if the mini-split will be the main heat in a room. Altitude's 65% output at 5°F works fine where an oil boiler or baseboard still covers the coldest nights.

The console style replaces an old radiator under a window, which helps in older homes with hot water heat. Mid-static ducted units hide in a soffit or closet and feed two or three rooms through short ducts. GE says the systems cool in outdoor heat up to 115°F, and Altitude can cool down to -40°F with a wind baffle kit, which is useful for server closets and sunrooms.

Warranty

GE Mini-Split Warranty

GE ductless systems carry a 5-year base warranty on parts, including the compressor. Register the system within 60 days of the date of purchase and coverage goes to a 10-year limited parts warranty. The unit's controller has 1 year of coverage.

GE's warranty says a licensed HVAC technician must install the system, or all coverage is void. Labor isn't included. Rental units need yearly maintenance by a licensed technician with proof kept on file.

On top of the manufacturer's coverage, Domino backs every installation with a 1-year labor warranty.

GE vs Haier Mini-Splits

Haier and GE ductless come from the same company, GE Appliances, and one warranty document covers both brands. The differences are in the lineup names and how the warranty is described. Haier sells single-zone and multi-zone systems with a standard 7-year limited compressor warranty and 5 years on parts, and select systems get 10 years when registered.

GE's lineup is split into Caliber, Altitude and Endure, with Endure aimed at cold climates and SmartHQ app control throughout. For a Long Island home that needs winter heat, the GE Endure line gives you published cold-weather numbers to plan around.

Repair & Service

GE Mini-Split Repair and Service

We stock common GE ductless parts such as sensors, drain parts and fittings. A yearly service cleans the filters, coils and blower, checks charge and confirms the basepan heater works before winter.

  • Indoor unit leaks water: a plugged drain line or a head that's not level.
  • Error code on the display or in SmartHQ: often a sensor or communication fault we can read before we arrive.
  • Outdoor unit iced solid: a failed basepan heater or blocked drainage under the unit.
  • Room won't heat on cold mornings: an undersized head, low charge from a flare leak, or the wrong series for the job.
  • Musty smell when it starts: mold on the blower wheel and coil that needs a deep cleaning.
