Most people know Panasonic for electronics, but its air conditioning group goes back to 1958, according to Panasonic's North American HVAC portal. Its heat pumps reach the US through HVAC Specialty, which the catalog names as master import representative.

Panasonic calls its central systems INTERIOS heat pump and air handler systems. On the ductless side, its nanoe X generator is built into the ClimaPure XZ and multi-zone indoor units; Panasonic says it inhibits allergens, pollen and odors.

Panasonic Heat Pumps for Long Island Homes

Choose the outdoor unit for the coldest night of the year. At the 36K size, Hyper Heat lists 39,000 BTU/h at 5°F and Regular Heat lists 27,000, and only Hyper Heat is rated to keep running at -22°F.

Many oil-heated homes here have a boiler and no ducts, so ductless ClimaPure XZ or multi-zone systems are the usual fit. Homes with a furnace can add a hybrid cased coil on top of it, or swap the furnace for an air handler with an optional auxiliary heat kit of up to 25 kW. The ductless outdoor units have a base pan heater so melted frost doesn't freeze inside.

PSEG Long Island's whole-house heat pump rebate is $4,000 at market rate and $5,000 for moderate-income households, with a $7,500 rebate for low-income households. The equipment has to be on NEEP's cold climate list, a Manual J has to show it covers 100 to 120% of the whole house's heating load, and a remaining oil or gas system needs dual fuel controls with the heat pump as the main heat. Panasonic Heat Pump Warranty

Panasonic's US homeowner guide lists a standard warranty of 5 years on parts and 7 years on the compressor. It lists 12 years on both when a Panasonic Gold Star contractor installs the system, a status tied to Panasonic's installer training.

That guide is from 2023, and Panasonic's Canadian INTERIOS page describes a 10/10 warranty with its own installer conditions. We confirm the current US terms for your exact model in writing before the job starts, and we register it with Panasonic for you after the install.

Panasonic vs Mitsubishi Heat Pumps

Mitsubishi says its Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) models produce up to 100% heating capacity at 5°F and keep heating at -13°F. Panasonic rates its ClimaPure XZ and EXTERIOS Z ductless units to heat at -15°F, and its ducted Hyper Heat series to run at -22°F.

Panasonic Heat Pump Repair and Service

Parts we keep on hand include run capacitors, mini-split condensate pumps, flare fittings and filters. Each year we wash the indoor coil and blower wheel, test the defrost and base pan heater, clear the drain and log refrigerant pressures. For a no-heat call, book heat pump repair.

Outdoor unit iced over and heat fading: a stuck defrost cycle or a failed base pan heater.
Indoor unit blinking with no heat: a sensor fault or lost communication between the indoor and outdoor units.
Water dripping from the wall unit: a clogged condensate drain or a unit hung out of level.
Ducted system blowing cool air in heat mode: low refrigerant charge, a reversing valve fault or an aux heat kit that isn't coming on.
Panasonic app can't find the unit: the router is on 5 GHz; Panasonic's Wi-Fi needs the 2.4 GHz band.
