Fujitsu heat pumps are sold in the US under the AIRSTAGE name. Their maker, Fujitsu General, joined the Paloma Rheem group in August 2025 and changed its trade name to GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. That makes Fujitsu a sister brand to Rheem and Ruud; the US distributor now calls itself a member of the Rheem family.

Newer boxes and manuals may say AIRSTAGE or GENERAL as the company moves away from the FUJITSU name. The lineup is still built around inverter compressors: wall units, ducted units, multi-zone systems and a multi-position air handler.

Fujitsu Heat Pumps for Long Island Homes

The outdoor unit decides how a Fujitsu heat pump handles a cold snap. XLTH units keep heating down to -15°F, and they add a base heater that turns on at 36°F so melted frost can't refreeze in the base. Near the Sound or the bays, the multi-zone outdoor units use a Blue Fin coated coil that Fujitsu says resists corrosion better.

If you heat with oil now, you don't have to rip out the boiler. PSEG Long Island's whole-house rebate allows the old system to stay as backup when dual fuel controls make the heat pump the main heat source; otherwise the fossil system has to come out. The PSEG rebate is $4,000 at market rate, a $5,000 rebate for moderate-income homes and a $7,500 rebate for low-income homes.

To qualify, the equipment must be on the NEEP cold climate list, sized to 100 to 120% of the whole home's heating load with a Manual J calculation, and installed by a PSEG participating contractor. Domino is a PSEG Long Island participating contractor.

Fujitsu Heat Pump Warranty

Out of the box, Fujitsu covers the compressor for 7 years and parts for 5 years. Register the system within 60 days of installation in a residence and both jump to 10 years. A 12-year tier exists, but only for jobs done by contractors in Fujitsu's own installer program.

Registration is online through the AIRSTAGE site. Missing the 60-day window cuts your parts coverage in half.

Fujitsu vs Rheem Heat Pumps

Both brands now sit under Paloma Rheem, but they solve different problems. Rheem's heat pumps are conventional ducted split systems: the Prestige line runs 19 to 20 SEER2 and 8.5 to 10.0 HSPF2, and Classic Plus runs 16 to 19 SEER2. Fujitsu builds inverter mini-split based systems, ducted or ductless, with XLTH models rated down to -15°F.

With good ductwork and a wish for one central unit, price a Rheem too on our Rheem heat pump page. With no ducts or one wing that never warms up, a Fujitsu ductless or slim duct setup is usually the easier install.

Here's what we check first on Fujitsu service calls:

Blinking lights on the indoor unit: the board logged a sensor, fan or communication fault, and the blink pattern tells us which one.
Outdoor unit packed with ice: a defrost problem, a failed base heater or a blocked drain under the unit.
House holds at about 50°F: Minimum Heat Mode is switched on (it holds 50°F by design), or the system is low on refrigerant.
Water dripping from a ducted unit: a clogged condensate line or a failed float switch.
System stays off after a power outage: auto restart was turned off, or a breaker tripped when power came back.

Yes, if it's an XLTH model sized to your heat loss. XLTH outdoor units are rated to heat down to -15°F, and the Orion XLTH+ wall unit is rated to -22°F. Standard outdoor units stop at -5°F or 5°F, depending on the model.

2Do I Have to Remove My Oil Boiler to Get a Fujitsu Heat Pump?

No. You can keep the boiler as backup. For the PSEG whole-house rebate, though, dual fuel controls are required so the heat pump runs first; if you skip those controls, the fossil fuel system has to be removed.

3How Long Is the Fujitsu Heat Pump Warranty?
