Samsung's North American HVAC arm sells ductless mini-splits, VRF, air-to-water heat pumps and the Hylex ducted heat pump. Hylex stands for Hybrid Flexible Single. Samsung designed it as a universal outdoor unit that uses the same inverter compressor approach as its mini-splits but connects to standard ducted equipment. Green Builder named it one of its Sustainable Products of the Year for 2025.

A Hylex needs Samsung's ACU control kit (MXD-U001XN) at the indoor unit. It runs on a standard 24VAC thermostat or Samsung's 2-wire communicating controller, and R-454B systems come with a Wi-Fi adapter for SmartThings.

Samsung Heat Pumps for Long Island Homes

Samsung launched its newest Hylex in February 2026 with the Northeast in mind. All Hylex units include a base pan heater as standard, which keeps defrost water from freezing into a block under the unit. The Premium 2 and 3 ton sizes are the strongest cold weather pick for Long Island capes and ranches.

Hylex can be set up for dual fuel, so your gas furnace can take over in deep cold. PSEG Long Island's whole-house rebate is $4,000 at market rate and up to $7,500 for income-qualified homes. It needs a participating contractor, a Manual J, a system sized at 100 to 120% of the heating load, a NEEP-listed unit and dual fuel controls if your fossil system stays. Warranty

Samsung Heat Pump Warranty

Samsung lists a 10-year warranty on Hylex with product registration required, and conditions apply. Samsung says registration must happen within 60 days of installation to get the enhanced warranty on eligible products. Activation can take 5 to 7 business days.

If a Hylex is paired with another maker's coil or furnace, the indoor equipment stays under its own maker's warranty. Keep both sets of paperwork.

Samsung vs Lennox Heat Pumps

Samsung and Lennox are now partners in ductless through their joint venture, but on ducted heat pumps they still sell separate products. Lennox builds a full matched system: outdoor unit, air handler or furnace and coil, all Lennox. Samsung Hylex is built to drop into an existing duct system and connect to almost any coil with a TXV. Domino is a Lennox dealer, so we can price a matched Lennox heat pump and a Hylex for the same house.

That flexibility is Hylex's main selling point. If your furnace or air handler has life left, a Hylex can replace just the outdoor unit. If everything is old, a fully matched system from one brand, Samsung's own MPAH included, keeps the paperwork simpler.

Samsung Heat Pump Repair and Service

We stock common parts. Hylex setup runs through Samsung's online ACU configuration tool, so a settings check is part of every Hylex service call. For service on any brand, see our heat pump repair service.

Error code on the ACU or controller: often a wiring or setup problem between the ACU kit and the third-party coil.
Short heating cycles in cold weather: wrong configuration in Samsung's Hylex setup tool, or an oversized system.
Ice building under the unit: the base pan heater isn't working, or the unit sits too low.
Weak cooling after install: the existing coil's TXV doesn't match the new refrigerant.
Wi-Fi drops in SmartThings: a router or adapter issue that doesn't affect heating.
