Comfort-Aire is a heating and cooling brand from Heat Controller, which sells to distributors across North America under the Comfort-Aire and Century names. On June 18, 2026, Lennox announced a deal to buy Heat Controller, with closing expected later in 2026.

The Comfort-Aire lineup covers gas furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini splits, geothermal units, window and through-the-wall units and dehumidifiers. There's no boiler on that list. The hydronic piece is the LE Series hydronic air handler, which Comfort-Aire says is designed for use with a boiler loop. Comfort-Aire lists four hydronic air handler series. Each can be set up for upflow, downflow or horizontal left or right.

The HWCG XOA ships with the hot water coil installed and a factory TXV for R-410A, so one cabinet can heat from the boiler and cool with a matched outdoor unit.
The coil is copper tube with aluminum fins, with 3/4-inch water connections.

Comfort-Aire Hydro-Air Systems for Long Island Homes

Hydro-air lets an oil boiler heat the house through ductwork, often the same ducts that carry central air in summer. The boiler sends hot water to the air handler's coil, and the blower pushes warm air through the vents. Many homes run an indirect water heater off the same boiler.

Freeze protection counts here. If the air handler sits in an attic or crawlspace, a coil full of water can freeze on a bitter night if the boiler goes down. Comfort-Aire's HWCG XOA has freeze protection for heating and cooling, with a freeze stat wired into the circulating pump control circuit.

When the boiler itself is worn out, you don't need to change the air handler. We size a new oil or gas boiler to cover the hydro-air coil plus any baseboard zones and your hot water.

Comfort-Aire vs Century Air Handlers

Century is Comfort-Aire's sister brand, and both come from Heat Controller. Heat Controller sells through distributors under the two names, so the badge on your unit usually reflects where your installer bought it.

Heat Controller doesn't publish a side-by-side comparison of the two lines, so we don't claim they're identical. For service, the model number on the data plate is what tells us the coil, motor and parts, whichever name is on the cabinet.

Blower runs but air is cool: the boiler isn't firing, or the circulator or zone valve for the coil isn't opening.
No air from the vents: a failed blower motor or capacitor, or a tripped condensate safety switch.
