Pay attention to the burner. Beckett stopped taking orders for the NX burner on September 30, 2025, though it says it will keep offering key NX replacement parts. If your L85 or L83 'V' model has an NX burner that fails beyond repair, we can fit a current Beckett burner set up for your furnace instead of replacing the whole unit.

The 2020 spec sheet lists L83 output from 57,000 to 127,000 BTU/h, which covers most Long Island homes. A furnace that seems too small often has a dirty heat exchanger or the wrong nozzle, not the wrong size.

The product pages list a limited lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a 10-year limited warranty on parts. Armstrong Air's current warranty guide says those terms depend on registering within 60 days of purchase; without it, parts drop to 5 years and the heat exchanger to a 20-year limited warranty.

When an Armstrong Air oil furnace has to go, Thermo Pride is one replacement we look at because it is still building oil furnaces in highboy, lowboy and counterflow styles. Its OH6 low-profile highboy is rated 86% AFUE with a Beckett AFG or Carlin EZ-1HP burner, a step up from the 83% L83 series.

Thermo Pride also lists a limited lifetime heat exchanger warranty that transfers to a new owner if you sell, plus 10 years on parts. Armstrong Air still makes sense to keep if yours is healthy; there's no need to replace a working furnace just because the line ended.
