A 32 gallon Bock can refill with hot water quicker than most families can use it. We install, repair and service Bock water heaters across Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and we stock the common parts on our trucks. Oscar Bock started the company in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1929, and oil-fired water heaters were its first product. Gas models came in 1949. Bock still builds in two Wisconsin plants and says it remains the number one selling oil-fired water heater in North America.

In April 2025, Bradford White bought Bock. The Bock name stayed, and its CEO said the company plans to keep making the same products. Bock's wider lineup also includes OptiTHERM condensing gas heaters, ElectriTHERM electric units, EnviroStar solar tanks and Bock SideKick indirect water heaters for homes with a boiler.

What sets a Bock oil unit apart is the Turboflue heat exchanger. It's a spiral, finned flue that pulls more heat out of the burner's flame before the exhaust leaves. Every tank is glass-fused-to-steel with two magnesium anode rods.

Plenty of Long Island houses heat with a warm-air oil furnace, not a boiler. Without a boiler, an indirect tank isn't an option, so a Bock oil-fired water heater is the main way to keep hot water on oil. It draws from the oil tank you already fill, so you don't need a gas line run to the house.

Recovery is where oil shines. The 32E gives 125 gallons of hot water in the first hour, which covers back-to-back showers and a load of laundry in a small tank. That helps in tight basements.

Bock gives residential oil-fired models a 5-year limited warranty on the tank and heat exchanger. Commercial installs get 3 years. Full terms sit in the limited warranty section of the installation manual that ships with the heater.

You can check coverage on Bock's warranty lookup with the eight-digit serial number from the rating label. Bock notes that being inside the coverage period doesn't guarantee a claim is approved.

On top of the manufacturer's coverage, Domino backs every installation with a 1-year labor warranty.

Bock vs Bradford White Water Heaters

Since 2025 these are sister brands under one owner, but they don't overlap on oil. Bradford White says it no longer manufactures oil-fired water heaters. For oil-heat homes it points people to its PowerStor indirect tanks, which need a boiler.

So inside that family, Bock is the oil-fired line. Pick Bock if you burn oil in a furnace or want a stand-alone heater with its own burner. Pick an indirect from either brand if you already have a boiler and want one less burner to maintain.

We stock the common parts, like nozzles, oil filters, electrodes, cad cells, relief valves and anode rods. A yearly tune-up covers a new nozzle and filter, a combustion test, flue cleaning, an anode check and a sediment flush. For no-hot-water emergencies, our water heater repair service runs 24/7.

No hot water at all: the burner's safety control has locked out, often from a clogged nozzle, a dirty oil filter or an empty oil tank.
Soot or smoke smell near the heater: the burner is out of adjustment or the Turboflue passages need cleaning.

We check the chimney or flue, the oil line and the floor space.
We drain and remove the old heater and haul it away.
We set the new Bock, pipe the water lines and relief valve discharge, and connect the oil line through a new filter.
We fire the burner, run a combustion test, set the temperature and check every joint for leaks.
