Riello's own warranty depends on that annual service. We install, repair and service Riello 40-Series burners on Long Island and stock the common parts, so a lockout on a cold night doesn't have to wait for a part to ship.

Riello started in Italy in 1922 and built its first light oil burner in 1923. It began selling burners in the U.S. in 1976 and opened a plant in Mississauga, Ontario in 1980 to serve North America.

Ownership has changed over the years. Riello joined United Technologies' climate unit in 2016 and became part of Carrier Global in 2020. Its site now states that Riello S.p.A. is under the direction and coordination of Ariston Holding NV.

Long Island Homes

Riello Oil Burners for Long Island Homes

Plenty of Long Island houses no longer have a usable chimney for the boiler. The BF3 and BF5 take combustion air directly from outside through an air intake port, which is why boiler and furnace makers offer them for direct vent installs. Airco's KHM furnace, for example, lists the Riello 40BF3 and 40BF5 as its direct vent burner option.

Every 40-Series control has a 10-second prepurge and a 5-second safety shutoff, with optional selectable post-purge. An optional electronic air shutter closes the air intake when the burner is off, which cuts the cold air pulled through the boiler between cycles.

Riello announced in May 2026 that the 40-Series is now B100 compatible, with a new direct-drive B100 fuel pump that's UL listed for up to 100% biodiesel. If your Riello is older, ask us before you switch to a high biodiesel blend.

Warranty

Riello Oil Burner Warranty

Riello warrants its 40F Series residential oil burners for 60 months from the date of installation or 66 months from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first. Motors, pumps, controls and other Riello parts are replaced through a Riello dealer or distributor. Riello doesn't pay labor.

The condition that matters most: the warranty doesn't apply if the burner wasn't serviced every year by a heating contractor whose main business is installing and servicing heating equipment. Keep your tune-up receipts. Non-Riello parts such as oil filters and relays get 12 months from installation.

Riello vs Beckett Oil Burners

Beckett is the U.S. burner many boilers ship with; Riello is the European design some manufacturers offer as an option. Both now list their home burners for biodiesel up to B100, and both warranties run 5 years.

The differences are mostly in setup and service. Riello's F3 and F5 cover 0.50 to 1.65 GPH between two models, while Beckett's AF/AFG covers 0.40 to 3.00 GPH in one chassis. Riello offers factory balanced flue models for direct venting. Riello's warranty also requires yearly service by a heating contractor, which Beckett's product page doesn't mention.
